Summer Holiday English Activities

ENGLISH ACTIVITIES FOR THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS

We know how challenging home learning has been during the school closure, but you have all done fantastically well! We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different hence we know that home schooling experiences have been different for all of our families. Thank you so  much for all of your support during the school closure,  you have all been amazing.

Some of you may be feeling anxious that your child may have fallen behind or missed out on  learning, others may like some ideas to support learning  during the Summer holidays . With this in  mind, I have collated 6 weeks worth of English activates, suitable for nursery to year 2. They will be accessible on the school website under ‘Pupil Zone’, ‘Summer Holidays English activities’. There is one PowerPoint for each week of the holidays and all of the information you need for each year group, are all on the same PowerPoint. If you do not have access to PowerPoint, you can right click on the document and select ‘open-with’, then choose ‘Word’. I hope you enjoy them and find them useful!

The most important thing to do with your child this Summer, is to keep reading! 90% of children's vocabulary comes from listening to stories, talking about them and exploring what happens in them and why. Also, did you know that experts in literacy and child development have discovered that if a child knows eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they are four years old, they are usually among the best readers and spellers in their class by the time they are in Year 3. So get reading everybody! Don't forget to sign-up to this year's Summer Reading Challenge too!

I hope that you all have a lovely summer break!
