WELLBEING DEVELOPMENT
Woodlands staff are highly invested in the wellbeing of all. We believe that by training staff to support your child, we can give children the tools and techniques they need to develop and understand their thoughts and feelings - tools and techniques that they can use now and in later life. By subtly feeding wellbeing into our daily teaching, assemblies and conversations with children and families we believe that pupils will grow up without feelings of stigma about mental health in a way that has never been seen before.
Staff training has been a core focus during the academic year 2019-2020. All teachers and teaching assisitants have been involved in staff training for their own personal wellbeing - we believe that happy staff results in happy children.
We have also looked at pupil wellbeing pedagogy and how we want to develop opportunities for pupils in our school and their families. We are also ambitious to support our community too.
The wellbeing team has received bespoke training to support you as families and identify children who may need our support in a variety of ways. There are also many members of staff who have chosen to complete an online training programme to further their understanding of pupil wellbeing.
As well as adopting the Solihull MBC Health and Wellbeing policy, we have a personalised one that runs alongside it to ensure that we meet the wellbeing needs of Woodlands.
